I LOVE sports and movement. I got my degree in it! I will play any sport, any time, and love it. My sport of longevity has been volleyball. I started at 13 and played professionally up to 30 years old. I coached volleyball for 14 years and co-founded a beach volleyball club called Elite Beach Volleyball. I currently stay active with ultimate frisbee, disc golf, hiking, mountain biking, volleyball, ping pong and anything else I can play. <br /> I have learned determination and persistence will get you a lot farther than skill and talent.
A pivotable point in my life is trying out for professional volleyball. Did I have what it takes to make it at the highest level? Tryouts where in Valkensward, Nederlands. I had to travel by myself to a different country, and find a small town in the middle of no where. When I arrived I found out there was 23 other players who where trying out for the same position as me. There was only a handful of open spots. After long days of travel and getting ready, I wasn’t ready. My first tryout I felt like I was so far behind and I wasn’t good enough to play. I went back to the hostel, prayed and crashed for the night. I woke up at 4:00am (thank you jet lag) and called my wife and told her I didn’t think I was in a good spot to be picked. That Tuesday, I played the best I had ever played up till that moment and by the end of the night was going back to sign with a pro team from Belgium. I was good enough.
I am motivated to see people grow and be the best that God has created them to be.
